Garland libraries land grant funding:
Garland Public Libraries were awarded two grants to expand outreach and services, including funding for a dedicated outreach vehicle supporting literacy and workforce development, plus $2,500 for the Central Library's Spanish-language board book collection.
Garland Fire Department upgrades equipment:
The department deployed three new Scorpion II Blocker trucks aimed at improving first-responder safety on scene.
Forney educator up for a national award:
Forney High School Percussion Director Riley Warren was named a quarterfinalist for the 2027 Grammy Music Educator Award.
Mesquite named Tree City USA — again:
The Arbor Day Foundation recognized Mesquite as a Tree City USA community for the 36th consecutive year.
Mesquite ISD superintendent honored:
Dr. Ángel Rivera was named the 2026 Region 10 Superintendent of the Year, as Mesquite ISD also added two new principals and four new assistant principals ahead of the school year.
